Towards the end of the year, I had an influx of clients who wanted to book in a one to one make up lesson, each and every client wanted to gain something different from their lesson – for many it was about gaining confidence with their daily make up application, for others it was something stylistically specific that they wanted to learn. With January coming to a swift end and the (very) faint hints of Spring snaffling to the surface, it seemed like a good idea to write a little bit more about what a one to one make up lesson entails and how it might benefit YOU.
Firstly…there are NO set patterns
I understand the importance of booking something that is bespoke to your needs and what YOU want to learn during your lesson. A lesson will usually take between 2-2.5 hours and I want to make sure that you get the best advice and take the most that you possibly can from our time. For some, we set an itinerary that runs through a full skincare routine makeover, followed by a full day-time or night-time make up look. For others, it might be more about perfecting something very specific, be it a vintage-inspired hair and make up look, something for a special occasion or perfecting the ‘smokey eye’. Either way, my aim is for you to get the most out of our time and learn more about what is important to you.
It IS a hands-on lesson
As much as I love a masterclass and a workshop, the true beauty of a one to one lesson is that you can get really involved in the learning process. Which means that, yes, the lesson is ALWAYS hands on for you. For practice purposes, I will demonstrate on half of the face (or hair), leaving half of it for you to practice your burgeoning skills. I firmly believe that the hands-on element of make up artistry is key to perfecting skills and getting brave behind the brush. The one thing I will NEVER do is pass any judgment on your skills, knowledge or any questions you may need to ask. I’m here to help!
You don’t HAVE to throw out your whole kit
I encourage a thorough rummage through your current skincare and make up kit – I often find everyone has some hidden gems that can work really well as part of a daily routine – so you’re not splashing the cash unnecessarily. We will always talk product recommendations - all of which are covered in the write-up notes!
There will ALWAYS be a follow-up
I recognise that your learning doesn’t start and end with one lesson. There is always a lot of information to take in during the timeslot – so a follow up email, complete with typed up notes and guidelines and a face chart with hints and tips for your complete look – all for your own reference!
Bespoke one to one make up lessons start from £75 – for more information, hit the contact me page and let’s get talking!
