I can't tell you how wonderful it was to finally get a glimpse at the gorgeous photographs from Kathy Teece's wedding, way back in the hazy Easter holidays earlier in the year. I had been waiting to see how Kathy's striking and beautiful look transferred for camera - and also to get a glimpse at the amazing DIY pieces she made for her big day!
I first met Kathy at a small wedding fair that I stood at in March 2016. The day itself had been quieter than I thought it would be and we were about to pack up, when Kathy bounded over to me to talk about her potential hair and make up booking. What really struck me first about Kathy (aside from that incredible bone structure of hers) was how incredibly organised she was. We spoke for quite a while about how she envisaged her hair and make up and how her bridesmaids would look and she booked in to have a full bridal package with semi permanent lash extensions too - a great idea for brides, especially when you're jetting off on your honeymoon straight after!
We had our first meeting in February for a trial of Kathy's hair, make up and lashes and also a trial of her ideas for bridal party hair and make up - we had great fun talking through ideas and how the day would work itself - as Kathy had a bridal party of six not including herself. We then booked an appointment to apply Kathy's lashes two days before her wedding and I was up to the Doubletree Hotel on the 14th April, bright and early with Louisa, my wonderful hair assistant, to get everyone ready! By the time Kathy's wedding day came around, we were already chatting like old friends!
And the results? Well I think the photos really speak for themselves - the bride looked stunning with her soft Rapunzel-inspired plait and curls, which suited the late addition of a gorgeous veil perfectly. Kathy's make up really brought out those gorgeous cheekbones and I put a lot of focus on her eyes - which were her favourite feature. As a regular make up wearer and a lover of red lipstick, Kathy wanted a strong look that nodded to her love of vintage-inspired make up, but would also suit the style of dress that she had chosen. The shade of lipstick was 'Vamp' by Sleek and it worked perfectly with the brown smokey eye that I gave Kathy.
For Kathy's bridal party, we focussed on a softer look that would really suit the powder blue dresses she had chosen. Each bridesmaid had the same hair and make up style but each chose their own lipsticks - with some opting for a dusky pink and others more of a nude that would suit a more olive skin tone. The bridal party looked immaculate and it was lovely to bring that little bit of unique-ness to each personality too!
It was a real pleasure working with Kathy and her friends and family on the day, the girls had thought of everything to make the morning really special and pampered for Kathy whilst her DIY efforts included a gorgeous photo ladder and personalised hangers too! What this woman does with her time in between being a mum, working full time and planning a wedding makes me feel lazy!
Thank you so much to Kathy for booking me for her big day - I hope you and Luke had a day to remember and I really was honoured to be a part of your special morning! Oh...and congratulations on baby number two!!! Check out the gallery of photos below!
