As a Hair and Make Up Artist, there is nothing more lovely than spending the morning with a bridal party. Some of my favourite experiences have been building relationships with brides through our consultations and trial sessions, only to wave them off on their big day, beautified and ready to say 'I Do'!
Back in September, I had the pleasure of being Laura and her bridal party's make up artist for her wedding over in Ashbourne, Derby. Laura was one of the first brides who booked me for make up, after I started up my business in 2015, after we chatted at A Wonderful Wedding Fayre.
After some emailing and throwing ideas around, Laura opted for make up for herself and her bridal party and also semi permanent eyelash extensions - which are a perfect add on, because who, frankly, wants to worry about panda eyes when you're on honeymoon?!
Initially, I went to Laura's lovely abode for her trial session, where we tried a dramatic smokey eye look, which she was really keen to try out for her big day. But, despite loving the make up, Laura felt more comfortable with natural tones that really complemented her bold colour scheme and her beautiful, naturally flawless skin. This is why a trial is so important before the big day - to ensure that the bride is happy and comfortable with her look.
After heading over to apply the lashes two days prior to the wedding, I was back early on the morning of the wedding, bringing an assistant, Katie with me to help with the bridal party. The prosecco was flowing and everyone was in really high spirits. Laura's pared down make up worked beautifully with her flawless glow and the nude colours, combined with a silvery hint, complemented her gorgeous 'peacock' colour scheme of green, purple and blue. I used one of my favourite Make Up Revolution 'Iconic' palettes to create the eye, a real go-to for bridal make up, whilst the lovely nude lip was by GOSH in 'Sweetheart'.
Laura's bridal party all had different coloured dresses too - in working with the colour scheme, and all opted for unique differences in their make up from gold-tinged smokey eyes to dark lips.
I lovely Laura's colour choice - and can we all take a moment to lust over THOSE SHOES - and adored the DIY projects that she had set herself for the day - the flowers, in particular, were a stunning touch to the day and served as a keepsake memoir for family members who would be at the wedding in spirit. I loved the boldness of her choices and felt that they really reflected her bubbly, bright personality.
The images, supplied by Thompson Photography, are beautiful and it's wonderful to see such pure colour in them. I wish Laura and Chris a very happy future together - and would like to thank them both for booking me for their big day!
